If your club is traveling to EIM and is not listed, please contact our main office .

It is Easier than You Might Think : Planning an event at EIM is a simple process. Our staff is “at the ready” to assist you with organizing your event. We have many contacts, and depending on the size and scope of your event we can guide you so that no detail is left unattended.

1.   The first priority when planning your cruise is deciding on a date. Contact our main office for availability. (NOTE: Several groups book their events as much as a year in advance. Our advice . . . inquire about dates as early as you can.)

2.   Let us know about how many boats will be traveling in your group and their approximate sizes.

3.   Each vessel will need one night’s dockage deposit to guarantee their reservation (holidays require two night’s dockage for deposit). There are several options depending on what is easiest for your group:

a.   Each member can contact our office directly and we will make individual deposit arrangements.

b.
The Cruise Director can collect a check from each participant and send them in together.

c.
Some yacht clubs will issue a check for the entire group.

From here, the island is your oyster and the sky is the limit! And now comes the fun part – deciding what you are going to do while you are here. Again, there are several options.

Food:

  • Casual and low key - potluck dinners, bring your own appetizer, barbeques – split up the preparations so everyone has an opportunity to share!
  • Catered with no worries – cocktail parties, clambakes, themed dinners, whatever you desire. We have many contacts who can “feed your need.”
  • On the Grand Scale – major manufacturer rendezvous take it to the most elaborate level. Tents, tables, chairs, several days worth of food, and lots of planning.

To Compliment the Meal:

  • That's the Spirit Shoppe , the liquor store located on Main Street, delivers with no minimums and no charge. Their crew is available to help you coordinate tastings of any variety - wine (local, American, or international), beer, martini, margarita, rum, cordials, frozen drinks - just a few suggestions to get your wheels spinning. (Sixty days preparation is strongly recommended for specialty tastings. Please call them at 860-767-8979.)
  • DJ's and other musical entertainment are available locally. We are happy to refer the contacts we have established over the last 51 years.
  • Seaflowers , our local florist, will deliver balloons and flowers. Contact Lauren or Cheryl at 860-767-8388 or seaflowers@copper.net for special arrangements!

Entertainment (a few suggestions):

  • Kids on Board: keep them entertained with a scavenger hunt on the island, a fishing tournament (the CT River catfish are always biting), or a kiddie horseshoe contest -– we have plastic horseshoes available.
  • Big Kids on Board: horseshoe, bocci, or volleyball tournaments, a scavenger hunt on Essex’ Main Street, rent a van or a bus and catch a show at Ivoryton Playhouse or Goodspeed Opera House , or try your luck at Foxwoods or Mohegan Sun casinos.
  • Fun for the whole group: free concerts in the Town Park on Wednesday nights, tour the CT River Museum , charter the RIVERQUEST for a personalized tour of the Lower River Valley, ride the Essex Steam Train , dinghy rides into the coves and creeks of the CT River.
